Quick and Easy-To-Make Easter Cupcakes

Easter is a wonderful time to cherish special moments with our closest family and friends. Spend more time with dear ones, and less time in the kitchen with this super simple cupcake recipe. Amp up a store-bought cake mix with quick custom frosting in delightful Spring colors! Every bunny will adore these delicious cupcakes!

What You’ll Need:

And, a Cupcake Pan

Substitution Options:

  • Eggs → ¼ Cup of Greek Yogurt
  • Oil → ½ Cup of Unsweetened Applesauce


These are general instructions. For best results, follow baking instructions included on the cake mix box.

STEP 1: Pre-heat oven to 350℉ and place baking cups in the cupcake pan.

STEP 2: With a mixer, beat cupcake mix, water, oil, and eggs (or your preferred substitutions) together in a large bowl.

STEP 3: Spoon batter into cupcake liners until each cup is 3/4 full.

STEP 4: Bake cupcakes 19-23 minutes. Depending on the pan being used, baking times may vary.

STEP 5: Remove cupcakes from the oven and allow to cool completely before frosting.

STEP 6: While cupcakes are cooling, prepare frosting colors.



While these cupcakes will taste delicious on their own, what will make them truly unique is the frosting. Dazzle guests with these cheerful Spring frosting colors! Your guests will think you spent hours in the kitchenbut you can make these frostings in a cinch! 

By using this color code developed by Food Network Magazine, choose three different frosting colors. Simply follow the guide to mix 1 cup of classic white frosting with the designated number of  food coloring drops. We chose the shade “Rose Water” to decorate the cupcakes in this tutorial.


STEP 7: Decorate cupcakes with the three frosting colors of your choosing to create a beautiful platter of cupcakes for entertaining.

STEP 8: Garnish with fresh strawberries, blueberries, candy bit sprinkles, or homemade whipped cream, if desired. Happy Easter! Enjoy!
